Nursing
Person centred treatment and support is delivered by our skilled and innovative, qualified and unqualified nursing teams, offering high ratios of staff to patient care. Our nurses are experienced and confident in caring for patients who are acutely unwell or have enduring mental health problems who may also present as challenging.
A wide range of psychological therapies are offered by both clinical and forensic psychologists using treatment approaches based on CBT, CAT, Family therapy, Narrative therapy or Psychodynamic approaches. A range of treatment interventions are available to meet the emotional and psychological needs of individuals to address offending behaviour and to develop skills to increase problem solving and coping strategies. A range of fixed treatment programmes which may be available include:
- Alcohol and substance abuse
- Coping strategies and Enhanced Thinking Skills
- Arson Prevention Programme
- Victim Empathy
- Prevention of Violence
- Motivation to Change
- Social Skills training
- CBT for anger management/anxiety management
- Hearing Voices (management of psychosis)
- Accepting and Understanding Diagnosis
- Trauma work
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
At both Heatherwood Court and Llanbedr Court there are established Dialectical Behavioural Therapy programmes for women with Personality Disorder including skills training, individual psychotherapy sessions, staff support, training and family workshops. A new programme for men is to be established in the autumn of 2009.
Our alcohol and substance abuse counsellor offers both individual and group psycho educational treatment programmes and relapse prevention work.
